Frog Knight

This was a concept I did for a mini-3D challenge on Game Artisan's a couple of months ago.  Unfortunately, I didn't finish this particular challenge, but my concept was shown in Polycount's 100th Post Newsletter.  I thought that was kind of cool.  I may have shown this to some of you, but for those who haven't seen it, here it is.

Photo Study-October 28th, 2010

Here is a photo study I did on the 28th.  Didn't allow myself to use the color picker at all, which is why the skin still doesn't look quite right.  I figure the only way I'm going to get better at color is by making myself do things like this.  Comments are welcome.

Work Scribbles October 25th, 2010

BEHOLD!  The two drawings I busted out today at work.  First, the ever rare, but always pleasant Gentleman Werewolf.  Second, the mildly entertaining and slightly foppish Vaudeville Dracula.  Its getting close to Halloween and the weekly topic on the Scribblets blog was "Favorite Horror Character", so I went with a couple of classics, with new twists.  Enjoy, and as always, comments are welcome.

Work Scribbles-Mass Update

Hey everyone, although I haven't posted any work scribbles since the 13th I've still been doing sketches regularly.  Here are all of the scribbles since the last post.  They're posted chronologically from oldest to newest.  Top was from the 14th (Marlboro), then the 15th (weird dude), 17th (robots), two from the 18th (Leviathan and the Fish-inator), 20th (old man), 21st (dragon), and the 22nd (dragon-heads).  At least one sketch for each shift, I need to get better about creating art on my days off too.  Enjoy, and as always, comments are welcomed.  Later.

Work Scribbles October 13th, 2010

Another installment of work scribbles.  Today, I ended up sketching a Moogle with a Marlboro-like creature reaching for him.  I like where this one is headed, so I'll finish it in the next few days and re-post the image.

Work Scribbles October 12th, 2010

So, in the interim between graduating from AIS and starting at SMU, I'm working at Ocean Spray in Grays Harbor.  I work as a Scalar, which is essentially a cranberry accountant.  I sit at a desk on the production line and weigh cranberries into totes (crates), then crunch numbers to find out how much the growers end up getting paid.  Anyways, today we were running really small crates and it was incredibly slow, so I started drawing on the only thing available to me at first, post it notes.  Albeit, pink, heart shaped ones.  At first I was doing single note drawings.....the seal-like wookie, the creepy cranberry, and the view of the production line.  Then I drew an eye and decided to continue onto another post it.  This continued to a point, at which time it seemed like a good idea to transfer them to a sheet of paper, so I flipped over an unused log-sheet, re-assembled the notes, and sketched a little more before the line sped up.  Anyways, here it is, enjoy.

SMU Sketchbook Contents

Alright, so as part of my application to the Guildhall, I was required to sketch certain requirements into a sketchbook that they provided.  The requirements were as follows:

-Figure poses/life drawings (3)
-Portraits (4)
-include front, side, and ? views, male and female subjects, and one creature
-Architectural or environment drawings (2)
-A large animal, such as a horse or large cat (1)
-Conceptual art to show your imagination on a unique character for a movie or digital game (1)
-include a drawing of the character and illustrations of where the character lives
-A graphic/commercial art example such as a logo, ad or banner (1)

Now from my understanding, these guidelines were left vague on purpose and were also viewed as the minimum amount looked for.  I just mailed off the sketchbook yesterday since the deadline is fast approaching, but managed to scan all of the contents before sending it out.  So, here they are:
