Just did this last night. We were all given a silhouette (read as not created by me) and told to "texture it". So we were responsible for the inner design, but were told not to change the silhouette of the weapon. I did change the silhouette a little bit, but got away with it. We had to render the weapon out, and here is my end result. Still needs work, and sorry if this post seems like I am rambling but I'm running on zero hours of sleep currently. The first image is just the weapon, and then the weapon with a quick light pass cast from the gun's lights. The next is a sheet showing palette swaps, and then the same with the cast light again.
