Quick hand-painted character I've made over the last two days or so before jumping back into existing projects. Inspired by a papercraft robot I saw online.

Long Time No Update
I've been awful about updating this blog the past few months, however, I promise I've been generating plenty of art. At the end of the current Module I'll update my actual portfolio site as well as post a massive art dump here. For the mean time here is a quick comp of an asset I created for the current game I'm making in TGP 2. One of the requirements for this second bout of teamwork was that it had to be in first-person view, so these are the main character's arms

KUNG FU PANDA!
So Kung Fu Panda 2 comes out this week and I'm pretty excited for that. So in that spirit, I did a quick painting of Po today. Enjoy!

VW Underside
Hey everyone, here is a quick screengrab from inside Marmoset of the VW's underside. The glow/emissive is very much a placeholder just to demonstrate where the glowy-bits are. In the end I'll add some subtle glow to the brake/turn signal lights on both the underside and top of the van. No specular or gloss maps are on the van yet either.

TGP 1 Game Poster
So I just wrapped up the poster for my Team Game Production 1 project, Operation Tapioca. The poster makes the game look WAY more epic then it actually is, but I had fun making it. Also, I had to censor the old man's right hand for the school version. There are loads of things I'm not happy with and could spend plenty more time fixing, but it was time to wrap it up. So here it is, enjoy.

VW Paint Over
Took a brief 10 minutes from texturing and did a paint over of a screen grab. This is what I'm envisioning in terms of the particles/engine effects, also this helps explain why the van doesn't have tires for anyone who may have been wondering.
Quick WIP
I know a couple of you have been asking for screenshots of my current project for class, so I threw it into Marmoset a little bit ago. Right now, the only maps I've worked on are the diffuse and normals, so it just has a uniform specularity level thrown on it. Its 4000 tris on the dot....a lot of which is used on the underside. I'll show that later.....diffuse is too ugly in that area right now.

Guildhall Mod 1 Art Dump
Hey everyone, since Mod 1 is now over I figured it was time for a massive post containing the bulk of the work I created during these last 7 weeks of class. A couple of these will be repeats, but I felt it was best for everything to be in here primarily for family who doesn't check it regularly. Anyways, umm....ALAKAZAM!!! Or something like that.
So there it is, this isn't all of the art that I created during this Mod, but its close to everything. If I realize I forgot any images I had wanted to show, I'll update it again. Enjoy.
This first section is from my Art Creation 1 class. We aren't allowed to use normal maps yet, so no high poly creation either. These are in chronological order.
Crate Lab Assignment
Barrel Lab Assignment
Table Lab Assignment
Crate and Barrel Lab Assignment
Crate Midterm
Catapult Lab Assigment
This next section is from my Drawing 1 class, again in chronological order.
Sketches done during lectures.
Speed Painting (30 minutes)
Speed Painting (45 minutes)
Midterm Speed Painting (45 minutes)
Weapon Render
2D Animation Assignment (top image is a GIF)
Portrait Assignment (bottom image is a GIF showing stages)
The following section is from my Game Design 1 class (in chronological order).
SPEED Computer Port Concept
TGP Alloyed Coalition Team Logo
TGP 1 Operation Tapioca Concepts
So there it is, this isn't all of the art that I created during this Mod, but its close to everything. If I realize I forgot any images I had wanted to show, I'll update it again. Enjoy.

Weapon assignment....
Just did this last night. We were all given a silhouette (read as not created by me) and told to "texture it". So we were responsible for the inner design, but were told not to change the silhouette of the weapon. I did change the silhouette a little bit, but got away with it. We had to render the weapon out, and here is my end result. Still needs work, and sorry if this post seems like I am rambling but I'm running on zero hours of sleep currently. The first image is just the weapon, and then the weapon with a quick light pass cast from the gun's lights. The next is a sheet showing palette swaps, and then the same with the cast light again. Cheers.

New Animation
So I posted the start of an animation assignment yesterday, and also submitted it to my Proffesor for critique. To be short, he tore me a new one. He was completely correct. From a purely aesthetic perspective it looked ok, but the animation was atrocious. So with that in mind, I went back to the drawing board and decided to simplify the art and put more emphasis on the animation. So here is the new plan of attack. A little robot strutting about. The first is what I'm thinking in terms of shading, the second is a gif of the key frames. Critiques welcomed.

3D Mini Comp.
So I'm currently participating in the current 3D Mini Comp hosted at Game Artisans, and for some reason I have yet to get any crits in regards to my entry, and I know its not because my work is perfect by any means. So if you have a crit/suggestion, please, lay it on me. Thanks in advance.
